Kaj (pronounced like "Kai") was born at Kennel Santtomin in Aura, Finland on November 6, 1996. He arrived at his new home in Pennsylvania on January 24, 1997. Kaj is black and tan, while blonde and pure black are the other accepted colors for the Hovawart. Kaj hopes to sire puppies in North America, where the demand for this difficult to find breed is growing steadily. He has great bloodlines, and is a terrific family member and guardian.

The name "Hovawart" means "Guardian of the Home",
